Life is not an audition

Over the years – life imbues itself upon one – and what is right, what is honourable and what is the right way to live one’s life makes itself known to you. This is a personal compilation of the good , the right, the necessary inclusions in one’s life (as in my life) – life is only for living – live life in the present, I know its hard – but you have to work on this. Take what you will – send me notice if you want to add some more items.

Living life in what was and what will be is scattering your energies – it is where your focus is. Hence life for now in the present and that is where your energies will be – what you do now is how you generate your future. So live in the now, for the now generate your goals and wishes for the future – whilst (as Deepak Chopra would say) you are in the gap – and the Universe will manifest your future.

One of my best friends said the following about my list when I sent it to her for her comments – “This is a beautiful, worthy list. I think this is the kind of list you make, then place it away… out of sight. At some distant moment when you feel at loose ends you can take it back out and review it. I think you would be surprised at the number of points you are already naturally adhering to, but it would make you feel good that you are accomplishing some of the credo and notice some of the other points you could improve upon. David, I worry that you get so caught up in thinking about things that you don’t allow yourself just to BE or do. So, if I were closer, I would pat you on your pretty little head, smack you on the bottom and send you out to play.” – it made me smile. She is my best of friends, a soul connection, and a mentor of mine in the study of Tao, Buddhism and of life

For here are the rules I have compiled for myself from every available source about almost every facet of life – Now I need to live by these rules – get out, exercise, energise and lose more weight – become fit again.

  1. Get out of the house, exercise, walk for a 20-30 minute walk every day. While you are walking, smile. It is great for your body and your mind – it is the ultimate anti-depressant.
  2. Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day.
  3. Buy a Video Recorder and tape your late night shows and get more sleep.
  4. When you wake up in the morning complete the following statement, ‘My purpose is to __________ today.’
  5. Live with the following — Energy, Enthusiasm, Empathy and faith in humanity and your future
  6. Play more games, scrabble etc.  and read more books than you have done.
  7. Make time to practice meditation and or prayer. They provide us with daily fuel for our busy lives.
  8. Spend time with people over the age of 70 and under the age of 10.
  9. Dream more while you are awake.
  10. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that is manufactured in plants.
  11. Drink green or Oolong tea and plenty of water. Eat blueberries, Oily fish such as Sea salmon, broccoli, almonds & walnuts +
  12. Try to make at least three people smile each day.
  13. Clear clutter from your house, your car, your desk and let new and flowing energy into your life.
  14. Don’t waste your precious energy on gossip, OR issues of the past, negative thoughts or things you cannot control.
  15. Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn. Problems are simply part of the class curriculum that appear and fade away like calculus class but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.
  16. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a broke college kid.
  17. Smile and laugh more. It will keep the blues away.
  18. Life isn’t fair, Life just is,enjoy, it’s still great, and note – it’s the only one you’ve got.
  19. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone, Remember Spite, envy and vengeance are a waste of time and energy and they will only come back and bite you.
  20. Don’t take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
  21. You don’t have to win every argument. Agree to disagree and move on.
  22. Make peace with your past so it won’t spoil the present and your future.
  23. Don’t compare your life to others’. You have no idea what their journey is all about until you walk a mile in their shoes.
  24. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
  25. Frame every so-called disaster with these words: ‘In five years, will any of this matter?’
  26. Forgive everyone for everything, including yourself.
  27. What other people think of you is none of your business
  28. Remember the Universe (God) heals everything.
  29. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
  30. Your job won’t take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. So stay in touch.
  31. Get rid of anything that isn’t useful, beautiful or joyful.
  32. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
  33. Love and Live your life in the present – remember the best is yet to come – you do know this.
  34. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up, energise and show up.
  35. Do the right thing! Be absolutely honest – No matter what!
  36. Call your family often.
  37. Each night before you go to bed complete the following statements: I am thankful for _______. Today I accomplished ____.
  38. Remember that you are too blessed to be stressed, so enjoy it – whatever it is.
  39. Enjoy the ride. You only have one ride through life so make the most of it.
  40. Laugh when you can, apologise when you should, and let go of what you can’t change.
  41. One more … Look in the mirror everyday, look yourself in the eye and say to yourself: I love you.Note your reaction.  It gets easier when you start to mean it. (with thanks to Deborah)
  42. Make something, especially something for someone else.  Grow something to eat.
